For the first time this year, participation in the event is included in the museum's regular admission price.
Please bring your own chairs and raincoats in case of light rain. The event will be held outside in fine weather.

Barbara 'Babsi' Zangerl (born 24 May 1988 in Bludenz) is an Austrian climber. In November 2024, she completed a flash ascent of the Freerider route (7c+) on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. This makes her the first person to flash climb a big wall route on El Capitan. She had prepared for this feat by climbing other routes with her partner Jacopo Larcher.

Jacopo Larcher is one of the strongest and most versatile athletes in international climbing. His alpinism career has shown steady progression. In recent years, he has devoted much of his time to big walls and traditional climbing routes. Alongside Barbara Zangerl, he has completed several routes on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.

Martin Moser is the managing director of Globoalpin, the leading alpine school in South Tyrol. He is an expert in sustainability, the initiator of the KlimaWissen project at Pustertal Valley schools and the co-founder of Klimaseilschaft.org. He is also a passionate climber who recovered after a 17-metre fall and three years of therapy, during which he gained many valuable experiences and a mountain farmer.

Erica Giopp studied Oriental languages and traveled between Rome and Beijing. In 2016, she took a trip around the world and wrote the book “Un anno in Barcastop” (winner of the Gambrinus Prize for Travel Literature). Since 2020, she has lived in South Tyrol, where she has learned German and started climbing and ski touring. She has documented all of this in her second book “Südtirol: Handbuch zum Einheimisch-Werden” (Edition Raetia).

About three years ago, we came across the incredible true story of mountaineers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates. It is the story of their ambitious dream: to be the first in the world to climb Siula Grande from the west face. But it is also the story of a friendship and the rope that bound these two young men together during that terrible feat.

Karl 'Charly' Gabl (born 21 December 1946 in St. Anton am Arlberg) is an Austrian meteorologist and mountaineer. He is known for his weather reports on the ORF Tyrol regional channel and for providing forecasts for high-altitude mountaineers around the globe.
Highlights of the film “Requiem in Weiss – Das würdelose Sterben unserer Gletscher” will be shown at the MMM Ortles cinema in Sulden and the MMM Firmian cinema in Bolzano during the summer of 2025. In this cinematic homage, Harry Putz presents the creeping demise of the Alps' glaciers. From April 2025, the film will also be shown in selected cinemas.
From the summer of 2025, visitors to MMM Ortles and MMM Firmian can look forward to a new installation.
South Tyrolean artist Lia Mazzari will set up microphones on the Suldner Glacier. These will transmit the sounds and rhythms of the glacier live to the exhibition rooms of the two museums. This will enable visitors to experience the fascinating yet fragile soundscape of the ice first-hand.
The museum shop has a wide assortment of articles relating to Reinhold Messner and the exhibitions: from postcards to signed copies of Reinhold Messner’s various books plus special MMM gift ideas like handprinted T-shirts made of organic cotton, posters of unique works of art, jewelry and much else besides.
The shop is open during the museum’s opening hours. We look forward to your visit!
Inside the museum at Firmian Castle, in the building alongside the annual exhibitions and the Rittersaal, there is also a restaurant and café with a sunny garden and a cool cellar. In addition to a small but varied range of local dishes, the restaurant offers typical South Tyrolean snacks, apple strudel and cake, and a choice of fine wines. The restaurant is only open to visitors of the museum.

You can have exclusive hire of Sigmundskron Castle after the museum has closed at 6 p.m. The two spacious courtyards with a stage, the cinema, amphitheater and garden terraces are at your disposal outdoors as well as the Rittersaal (with two beamers, screens and sound system) indoors. Catering is provided by the museum restaurant. Parking available. Incentives with Reinhold Messner – in the form of a mountain walk, a lecture or a tour of the museum including an introductory talk followed by dinner together – are also available.
