Guided tours & important information

Main theme: the ice

For a good two centuries, ever since man started to journey to the South and North Poles and to explore the mountains, ice has been a fascinating subject. It has been studied by scientists and reproduced by artists: glaciers, ice precipices, snowy slopes, crevasses, ice mountains. With fine strokes of the brush and delicate nuances of color, artists reveal the power and beauty of the ice, which has a different shine depending on the region: the Himalayas, the Caucasus, the Andes or the Alps. Ice is a living thing; pack ice drifts, glaciers flow, icebergs melt, crevasses open, avalanches descend and ice falls cascade. At MMM Ortles, the ice also cracks – as on Mount Everest at an altitude of 6500 m. We hear the crack of the ice, the roar of the avalanche, the clatter of the ice fall and the howling of the wind blowing down from the south col.
All this contributes to the MMM Ortles experience for visitors. A brief introduction is provided at the entrance. Guided tours are only available for groups booked in advance for visits outside of normal opening hours.
