Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to the most important questions about your museum visit. Click on a question to see the answer.

Do I need to book my visit in advance?

Visiting the Messner Mountain Museums is possible without prior reservation. The sites can be visited flexibly during opening hours.

Which museums are open today?

Under “Plan your visit,” you will find an overview table showing which museums are currently open. Closed locations are displayed in grey depending on the day and time, while open sites appear in black text. The overview also provides information on current seasonal opening times and closing days.

Are animals allowed in the museum?

Animals of any type or size are not allowed in the Messner Mountain Museums, with the exception of guide dogs for blind or deaf visitors.

Is it possible to book a guided tour?

Regular guided tours are not offered. However, on request, a short introduction for groups can be arranged, depending on availability and on-site conditions. A free audio guide is also available.

Is the Guest Pass valid?

The South Tyrol Guest Pass is not accepted at the Messner Mountain Museums and is not linked to any discounts.

Are there combination tickets for all locations?

Yes, there is a combined ticket for all six locations – the MMM Tour Ticket. It entitles visitors to one visit per museum within one year. Further information can be found under “Plan your visit”.

Can I visit multiple museums in one day?

Yes, it is possible to visit several locations in one day—if they are sensibly combined by region. In the Vinschgau valley, for example MMM Juval and MMM Ortles, in the Puster Valley MMM Ripa and MMM Corones, or in central South Tyrol MMM Firmian and MMM Juval.
If visiting multiple sites, the MMM Tour Ticket is a convenient option. It links the six museums into a single route through landscape and thematic spaces.
The Messner Mountain Museums are designed as an interconnected system. Each site represents an independent theme while remaining part of a larger whole, connected through landscape, architecture, and travel. The journeys between locations are part of the experience itself.

Which locations are accessible for visitors with reduced mobility?

The Ripa and Corones museums in the Puster Valley, as well as the Ortles museum in Sulden, are accessible fully barrier-free. However, as all our museums are located in special places, arrival may present some difficulties. Detailed information can be found under “Plan your visit.”
MMM Firmian in Bolzano is partially accessible. In this case, only a small initial part of the exhibition can be visited.

Is photography allowed?

Private photo and video recordings are permitted without flash. Commercial use of the material requires prior approval from the museum management.

Are lockers available?

Lockers are available exclusively at MMM Corones. Due to the building structures, this service is not available at the other locations.

Are there waiting times?

Even during peak visitor months, access to the museum is generally calm and well organized. During periods of higher visitor numbers, there may be short waiting times of up to around 15 minutes at the ticket desk.

Can I give a museum visit as a gift?

Yes, it is possible to purchase gift vouchers under the “Experience” menu section. These vouchers are valid for 2 years from the date of purchase.

Can I rent the museums for my event?

Yes, several locations can be rented for an event or celebration. Further information and the contact details of our event coordinator can be found in the “Event Venue” section of our service area.
