"Never take the safest way"

On 9 June, MMM Firmian will open its doors for a shared celebration. Not as a retrospective in the traditional sense, but as a dynamic exploration of what makes this place unique: encounters, perspectives, and the relationship between people and the mountain.

In the rock theatre, an evening unfolds that is not predetermined. The theatre group Carambolage takes the anniversary as a starting point and develops an improvised performance – open, dialogic, and created in the moment. Thoughts, memories, and questions are taken up, transformed, and carried forward. In this way, the past is not simply recounted, but made newly tangible.

For over 20 years, the shows by Improtheater Carambolage have been a fixture on the stage at Carambolage in Bolzano. Eight enthusiastic actors – all professionally involved in theatre – and a virtuoso musician bring the audience to that rare place where we humans so seldom are: the here and now. Because improvised theatre is spontaneous creativity without a safety net, a revival of imagination without censorship, and a brilliant entertainment programme.


The audience is right there as the stories unfold and characters come to life in the moment. Jubilation and failure are as close as they are nowhere else in theatre, making every evening feel immediate and tangible. Improtheater Carambolage isn’t just seen on the Carambolage stage, though; it also performs at guest appearances and international festivals, and is well connected within the improvised theatre community in the German-speaking regions.


Promoting young improv talents is also an important part of Improtheater Carambolage’s work.
